Head west of STC Malachite and find the fenced area and a lowrise building to reach the entrance of the Mirror VPC.
Get to the Control Room
Make your way inside and prepare to fight the giant mutant rats as soon as you head up the stairs. Loot consumables and ammo from the corpses at the large room.
Go through one of the doors in the large room to find a narrow hallway with the body of Oleksiy Bak at the end of the corner.
The control room should be located at the left door where multiple giant mutant rats will appear as you get close.

Head back to the large room with multiple dead bodies and find the corpse of Sgt. Nikitin in the middle of the room.
Beside the corpse is the High-Voltage Fuse that you need to install in the switchboard.
Go to the control room and find the 3 switchboards. Install the High-Voltage Fuse in the middlemost switchboard.
Activate the Mirror Facility
Turn on the red lever beside the door to complete the objective. Note that when you turn on the red lever, the body of the Kolya Deputee will rise up to attack.
Find the Connection Instructions (Optional)
Get ready to fight at the large room as the bodies there will also rise up to attack. Several of the locked doors will open at this point, so head up to one of the doors that lead to a staircase.
Go to one of the narrow rooms with two corpses and find the brown table at the end that has the X-Network Connection Instructions. Pick it up to complete the optional objective.
Launch the Observatory's Primary Installation
After picking up the note, open the gray door on the left to proceed to the next area.
Head up the stairs until you find the body of Temko Kickass hanging on the guardrail. Proceed to the suceeding rooms until you find one of the enemy soldiers getting killed. Go back to the previous room to kill the previously dead bodies that will come to life.
A bandaged mutant will appear in the room that contains the Observator's primary installtion. Kill it and head to the opposite end to find a large control panel with a red button.
Push the red button to complete the objective.
Get Rid of the Obstruction Blocking the Rails
Find the gray door on the right side of the control panel to head outside. Use a long-range gun to get the Chimera's attention to keep it away from the rails.
Do not engage the Chimera in combat as it can kill you in 2 hits. It is advisable to distract it to complete the objective and then close the door to prevent it from entering inside the observatory.
Reboot the Primary Installation
After distracting the mutant away from the rails, push the red button again to reboot the primary installation. Prof. Ozersky will start to speak to you after completing the objective. Choose any of the dialogue options to proceed.
From here, you can run outside the observatory and head to Rostok. Watch out for enemy soldiers and the mutant outside.
Ask Richter about the Scientists

Once you reach Rostok, find Richter and choose the "Ozersky said you could help me find the people I'm after". If you already have an electronic collar in your inventory, Richter will immediately direct you to Dvupalov, triggering the next main mission, In Search of Past Glory. If not, you'll have to hunt a Bayun that Richter gives you the coordinates to.
NOTE: Certain mutants in the Zone will be fixed with electronic collars since they're part of a later side mission called In the Name of Science. If you kill one and pick up their electronic collar, Richter will notice and immediately direct you to Dvupalov. Similarly, the electronic collars from Nightingale's Hunt pass this requirement (provided you didn't sell them to Hamster earlier on).
Acquire the Collar from the Bayun
The Bayun's location is at the Boathouse southeast of Rostok. When you reach the area, you will find some non-enemy soldiers that are camping out. Head inside the house and kill the Bayun that will appear. Search its body to get the collar.
